Sydney For All Destination NSW

Research Project - Accessible Urban Tourism

This website reflects the results of research undertaken by the University of Technology, Sydney and the University of New South Wales, in conjunction with the Sustainable Tourism Cooperative Research Centre.

The research project focuses on tourism experiences close to Sydney's transport hub from Central Station to Circular Quay and includes The Rocks and activities on Sydney Harbour. It features Sydney day trip experiences likely to appeal to visitors with disabilities including mobility, vision, hearing and cognitive, in addition to seniors who have access requirements.

The research project seeks to understand the broader issues of visitor accessibility and identify structural barriers which may constrain visitors. The project also seeks to highlight technologies and solutions adopted by operators to overcome existing barriers and improve accessibility.

Visitors to this website are encouraged to assist the research project by testing the tourism experiences featured and then providing feedback. Every web page describing a tourism experience includes a short survey which can be completed online.
